On Writing
Aug. 17th, 2010 10:10 pmAs my post from earlier this evening demonstrates, I am currently reading 'On Writing' by Stephen King, which Audrey loaned me about two years ago (sorry, Audrey) and told me I needed to read. And she was right, because it is fucking awesome. I love the way he tells the story of his life in such a way that the reader absolutely understands the power horror fiction holds both as a mirror to the darker parts of life and also as an escape from those parts. He's a smart dude.
And then I was procrastinating writing tonight's Wolf House section by doing "research", which consisted of watching blurry, poor-sound-quality song snippets on YouTube because it's William Beckett singing with Fall Out Boy on the Black Clouds and Underdogs tour, which meant FOB were in their Sixteen Candles outfits.
And I thought, you know, I am a very silly person. And I might be crushingly insecure about the fact that I am a very silly person, but even Stephen Freakin' King admits to sometimes feeling like he's a disappointment who writes trash. So there are probably worse things to be in life than the things I am. Probably.
